Behind Studio Emilia...
My name is Emilia, but most people call me Emma. I was born in subtropical Batumi in Georgia, but I have been living in the Netherlands for over 20 years now. I am married to a Dutch man and together we have a 5-year-old son named Ryker and a cat named Lucy. We live 45 minutes from Rotterdam in a small village called Zwartewaal.
I started making polymer clay earrings 6 years ago when I was pregnant and had a lot of free time. Meanwhile, I also work part-time as an art education professional in museums and cultural institutions.
But in my evenings and on my days off, I make polymer clay jewelry at our dining table, often with Ryker by my side. Additionally, I offer workshops for beginners and advanced students to learn how to make jewelry from polymer clay. This way, I can share my passion and interest with others.
A few facts about me:
I love bright colors, earthy tones, black, white, or simply minimalist, and everything in between. Actually, I don't have a 'personal style' but prefer to create whatever I feel like making at the moment. This varies from a simple design to an intricate earring in neon colors. Perhaps not having a style is my style?
I speak three languages fluently: Dutch, English, and Russian.
My musical taste is very broad; from hard rock to hip-hop, from drum 'n bass to jazz, and everything in between.
